Hello Friends List, I require help and suggestions ^_^ Please read!



Year Abroad 2010-2011

What?
Since receiving the results for the first year of my degree last week, I have cautiously begun to look towards the future, specifically my third year, which I get to spend studying at a university in either America, Canada or Australia. We begin to plan out which country and university we want to go to at the beginning of the second year, and submit our choices (I believe) before the end of the Autumn/Winter Semester. Whilst it is too early to say where I will end up, I don't want to waste such an enormous opportunity and am already compiling a list of amazing and awesome places that I want to visit in between studying. =3

Where?
The options available to me in my third year are:
- Spend a year in America
- Spend a year in Canada
- Spend one semester in either America/Canada, and spend the second semester in either Australia/New Zealand.

At the moment, I am clueless as to what my choice should be.

How?
I am calling upon the help of my Friends List to suggest awesome, fun and interesting places that you think I would like to visit/you have visited and enjoyed/you have heard are kick-ass. They can be anywhere in America, Canada, Australia or New Zealand. At the moment I haven't decided what country I am going to go to, nor what university, so anything is on the cards. My plan at the moment is to make a big huge list of places, and then research them and narrow it down into some kind of itinerary for me to do (In between university work, obviously XD)

Also, just any general travelly advice for a small town kid going to a big huge continent will be much appreciated XD

This is my first time actually answering one of these. I considered Sherlock Holmes, being my favourite fictional detective, as my first choice, but the thing with Holmes is that if my case is too easy for him, he will just not bother trying and sit around getting high instead. Similarly, if Basil The Great Mouse Detective took on my case and thought he was beat, he would just mope and sit in his armchair by the fire playing the violin. I wouldn't trust Dupin considering that he is only really bothered with cases involving a grizzly murder, and as such, by the time he took an interest in my case I will have most likely already kicked the bucket and been scattered around the crime scene. Miss Marple, seeing as she specialises in murders in otherwise idyllic country towns and villages, may be suitable, considering the scene of my supposed framing would probably take place in Evesham, however, I don't think I could get over the fact that she is, essentially, a nosey old bat. The law of Scooby Doo dictates that if I called the Mystery Machine around then I would inevitably be exposed as the crook in all my rubbery-latex-ghost-costume-wearing-glory... so they're out. I can't remember much of Poirot (I really need to reread the books D8 ) but whilst he and Tin Tin are both relatively good at solving crimes, I am concerned by the fact that, other than Adolph Sax, they are the only good things to have ever come from Belgium. L is a bit of a prick so he's out, and whilst I would love to meet him, I have a feeling that The Doctor wouldn't figure out the mystery until it was too late, and then all he would be able to do would be to say "I'm sorry. I'm so sorry," leaving me screwed. Though if RTD was still in charge, I might get written in as a love interest. Anyways... I wouldn't trust Dan Dark... or any 1950's gumshoe for that matter, as being female I would either end up being the real bad guy, completely useless or dead. Talking of Gumshoe, Phoenix Wright isn't a bad choice. Aside from his bumbling investigation skills, he always seems to manage to pull his client out of an impossible situation. I think I would definitely have him as my lawyer, which leaves only one person suitable to be my investigator!



Professor Layton! What can I say? He's clever, smartly dressed, friendly, adorable, and the perfect gentleman. Not to mention his fantastic taste in hats!

You may have been able to tell... I am wasting time. XD That was rather fun, though now I am craving more Professor Layton games!

It's Fairtrade Fortnight at the UEA right now and I was walking to the launderette and a guy dressed as a giant banana handed me a free banana.

Then, on the way back, a guy dressed as Bananaman gave me another one. 8D

Also, because it is sunny today, the Ice Cream Guy is back and I had Mint Choc Chip and he gave me a free mini scoop of Chilli Chocolate on top 8D

I also did a little spending on myself. Ami, Rose and I were hanging around in the UEA's Waterstones before our film afternoon (This week it was Jurassic Park) and since I was looking at random books, Ami asked if I was buying anything and I said there were a load that I wanted, but I was refraining, when suddenly the guy behind the till told me "I know what you mean, I have my eyes on a few over there in the 3-for-2, I'm thinking PopCo and Company of Liars, and I've read The Suspicions of Mr Whicher and it was fantastic~"

WELL WTH FGLIGHFSRLIGU THOSE WERE THE THREE BOOKS I ACTUALLY HAD MY EYE ON.

Surely it was a sign.

I bought all three. XD

I also got some new dice for D&D, they're gold and green and were expensive but so pretty~ <3

As if you didn't need any more proof that my evil sister is the lowest pond scum of the universe, I got a phone call from Mum on Friday night at about... 1am. She told me Charlotte, who, after being kicked out of Mum's house has moved in with Nan and now scrounges off her, had tried to steal Nan's car, got in a scuffle over the keys, and pushed Nan to the ground. Nan hit her head.

Apparently Nan is okay, she was just really shaken. She is currently in Dorset with her sister's family. Charlotte is at Dad's house in Staffordshire. What she doesn't know is that today, Mum is packing up all of Charlotte's belongings and is apparently going to drive all the way to Stafford to dump them on my Dad's driveway.

Like me, Nan hates Evesham, so staying in Dorset this week should be good for her. Lately we'd been planning for her to come visit me in Norwich for a weekend, but after hearing this, I just want her to be here like, RIGHT NOW.

I hate Charlotte so much. Nan is 78. If anything had happened to her, I don't know what I would do.

Reading an incredibly boring 24 page extract to prepare for my lecture on Individualism in an hour, I am delighted to find two pages where the author talks of nothing else other than cowboys and detectives. ¦D

In the past couple of days, full pictures of the new series of Pinky: St figures have surfaced on the Vance Project website. It's pretty weird to see them so soon after the release of the previous series (Which I squee'd over in an entry a while ago, when I got back from Japan in the Summer) but I'm quite sure no-one is complaining ^__~

First up, PK022.

I'm really loving the 'hippy-ish' look of PK022, she seems so much more relaxed than say, Series 6, who's outfits seemed rather old fashioned (PK018 Mikimiki's main outfit will always remind me of a 50's Diner for some reason...) I also like her bag, rather than being a generic ones like from the earlier Series, it's more original, along the lines of PK016 Ako's sunflower bag or the cute suitcase and goth bag from the just-released Series 7 Pinky's. The alternate outfit is cute too, it looks wintery so kind of reminds me of PKW2005 Wonderfest Winter Suu, perfect for December! <3 To finish off, she has a really awesome hairstyle. I don't think Pinky's have had one that flops over their eyes before, plus it's black which makes a slight difference from the usual brown headedness of late =3

Next is PK023!

Who is really rather adorkable X3 Lots of people on the Pinky: St forums I think are getting the 'cute tomboy' feeling from her, and I have to agree. Her smile is kinda similar to Yoshiko (A lot of comparisons are being drawn from the newer Pinkys with the older ones now) but her hair is short and cute and her first outfit looks really nice! I'm also bias because the boots she's wearing are very similar to the ones my Mumsie got me the other week when she came to visit Norwich X3 And don't get me started on the camera, awesome accessory! Sadly, her alternate outfit kinda... sucks, but the rest of her is enough to make her a definate DO WANT!

Finally, PK024~

There seems to be one Pinky in every Series who is less popular than the others, in Series 7 it is PK020 (The still unnamed goth/prostitute looking one @_@) and in Series 6 it was PK018 Mikimiki, for Series 8, PK024 seems to be the one, in my opinion. .__. She has really nice purple eyes, but her expression seems kinda mean and I really dislike the main outfit, that shade of pink together with black will always remind me of a 50's bathroom (Wtf is it with me being reminded of the 50's XD) And her alternate outfit seems plain and dull compared to the much more interestingly painted PK022's version. Sad to say, but I don't think PK024 will be on my wishlist any time soon.

So, final verdict? PK024 will probably be getting a miss from me, but PK022 and PK023 are a VERY MUCH DO WANT. According to HLJ they'll be out sometime this month, so they're going on my (rather extensive) wishlist after Series 7 and the Sky Crawler Pinkys XD

In other news, last night was rather successful. I got 5/20 pages done for my Creative Writing portfolio, plus I went late night shopping with two of my flatmates, Kathryn and Kendall, and managed to finish Mum's and Nan's Christmas presents, as well as oh-so-nearly being done with Jay's =3 We also had KFC. Kendall is obsessed with KFC XD

I'm still worrying about money, so I'm very tempted to go back into the city today to finish my Christmas shopping so that I know exactly how much money I have left to spend...

PS. Just booked my train tickets for when I go home at Christmas. Because I booked so far in advance, I got them for £25.10 instead of £47.20! 8D I'll be leaving Norwich at 1pm on 19th December and going via London, arriving in Evesham at 5:46pm. On the 8th January I'll be heading back to Norwich, getting the 10:27am train to London Paddington and arriving in Norwich at 3:27pm =3
